New Leadership Appointments at NUA

Promotions from within ensure continuity of vision and strategy at leading insurance agency.

NASSAU, 13 September 2021 – The Board of Directors of Bahamas First Holdings Limited (“BFH”), parent company of NUA Insurance Agents & Brokers Limited (“NUA”), has announced that Stanford Charlton has been confirmed as Managing Director at NUA after acting in that capacity since 1 January 2020. Mr. Charlton takes over from former Managing Director Warren Rolle who now leads BFH subsidiary Cayman First Insurance Company in Grand Cayman. Concurrently, the Board also announced the promotion of seasoned insurance professional Sanchez Brooks as Assistant Managing Director.

Mr. Charlton is a proven insurance executive with over 30 years of experience in Underwriting, Broking and Claims acquired through training and work in The Bahamas, London and the Turks & Caicos Islands. He joined NUA in 2003, and has held progressively senior roles at the company, serving most recently as Assistant Managing Director. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Cedarville University in Ohio and is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London. Mr. Charlton is a former President of the Rotary Club of New Providence (2006-07), Deputy Chairman of the Turks & Caicos Insurance Association (2007-09), and Assistant District Governor of the Rotary Clubs of The Bahamas (2013-16). He is married to Nadene (née Albury) and they have two children, Stanton and Nadege.

Mr. Brooks’ promotion to Assistant Managing Director follows a three-year term as Carmichael Road Branch Manager where he assisted with the oversight of operations and production of seven offices throughout The Bahamas. He has also served as Business Support Manager at NUA and as Business Development Manager at Cayman First. Mr. Brooks holds a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems and Business Administration from the Florida Institute of Technology and is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London. He is a member of Toastmasters International and the Insurance Institute of The Bahamas.
