Why Make-up, Skincare & Beauty Customers Want to Book Appointments

From improving sales to increasing store visits, learn why salon appointment scheduling for make-up, skincare and beauty retailers is essential. 

 

Are we entering a cosmetics boom? As restrictions ease, the social calendars of many Americans are starting to fill out. What’s more, a recent survey of 10,000+ beauty buyers found that 56% of Americans are paying more attention to their skincare after spending more time at home during the pandemic. Make-up, skincare and beauty retailers can take advantage by deploying appointment scheduling in their stores.

Why appointment scheduling for make-up brands?

Qudini’s May 2021 consumer survey found that appointment scheduling is becoming increasingly popular with make-up, skincare and beauty retailers. 76% of customers want to book at least one type of appointment with consumers. They were particularly excited by the ability to reserve a slot for in-store services (35%). The option to schedule store visits (31%) and to book virtual services by phone or video (25%) were also popular.

Make-up for lost time

Covid-19 ushered in a new era of e-commerce. However, many customers are keen to return to physical stores for the customer experience if it can be done safely. Our survey found that 32% of shoppers would like to schedule appointments for safety reasons. 29% also said that it would be beneficial because it’s more efficient and saves time.

What’s more, our 2020 survey revealed that: 

Beauty benefits

Whether it’s booking a beauty treatment at off-peak times or arranging exclusive in-store cosmetics slots, retailers have much to gain from implementing solutions. 93% of consumers that have used an appointment service in the last 12 months said it had at least one positive impact on them.

Putting these metrics into tangible numbers suggests that a retailer generating 200 appointments per month, per store (with an average transaction value of $54) could earn an extra $99,600 per store, per annum. As such, if you deployed appointment scheduling across 500 stores, you could increase your revenue by an estimated $49.8 million per year.
