Bahamas First names executive and management appointments

KEVIN O. HUDSON has been appointed Vice President, Underwriting of Bahamas First General Insurance Company. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Underwriting, Mr. Hudson will oversee the company’s underwriting strategy, provide leadership on reinsurance matters and manage relationships with agents and brokers.

Mr. Hudson is a proven insurance executive and relationship builder with over 27 years of experience in underwriting. He joined the Bahamas First Group in 1994, and has held progressively senior roles at the company, serving most recently as Business Development Manager with responsibility for managing the company’s intermediary network.

Mr. Hudson earned an Associates Degree in Accounting from the University of The Bahamas and a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons.) in the same discipline from the historic Tuskegee University in Alabama. Subsequent professional training was acquired in London, Zurich and Ontario. He is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and was elected ‘Basileus’ (president) in 2021.

ANQUIN C. COOPER has been appointed Group Analytics Manager with oversight of the newly formed Group Analytics Unit, charged with mining market-differentiating insights and business intelligence for the Group’s subsidiaries in The Bahamas and the Cayman Islands. The establishment of the new unit reflects the emphasis on data-driven decision-making across the Group, transforming data into business value, and driving data-related business change.

Mr. Cooper joined Bahamas First in 2017 after several years in Chicago, Illinois at the third largest P&C insurer in the United States. Since joining the Group, he has led several successful initiatives, including drafting and executing the Group’s Data Migration, Data & Quality Control, and Analytics strategies.

A graduate of Government High School, Mr. Cooper holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics & Statistics from Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada, and a Master of Science degree in the same discipline from Roosevelt University in Chicago. He is a member of the International Association of Black Actuaries (IABA) and the Caribbean Actuarial Association (CAA). He is pursuing the Casualty Actuarial Society Associateship (ACAS) credential.
